Senior Issue 2020

To the Class of 2020…

Words of Wisdom from Teachers and Staff

This is only the beginning of a wonderful, amazing journey! Stay positive, enhance your education, remember your roots, and the world is yours.

-Mrs. Swingle

Congratulations Class of 2020! I wish you the best of everything life has to offer.

-Mrs. Sober

I am so proud that you all worked through the chaos to complete your high school careers! It was an honor to be a part of your senior year!

-Mrs. Kovalovsky

I truly feel you are one of the top senior classes that I have had the pleasure in teaching over the last 34 years. I wish the school year would have finished like any other year. I will truly miss you all! I wish you all the very best in your future endeavors. Be good and remember…”it’s nice to be important, but it’s more important to be nice”.

-Mr. Kovalchick

Congratulations! I know the year didn’t end the way you wanted it to but you are all great strong kids and made it through! I am proud of each and every one of you! Good luck!!

-Dianna Kinnard

Continue seeking in life. Face the days with a curiosity that chases knowledge and understanding.

-Mrs. McCauley

Do not let anyone tell you that you are missing out on the best time of your lives. The best times are yet to come!

-Mr. Caves

Congratulations on graduating. May it bring you and your family pride and joy on your accomplishment. I wish you continued success in everything that you do.

-Mr. Bearer

It was exciting watching you all grow from little 7th graders to seniors! DO AS MUCH AS YOU CAN in the next 10-20 years. Be involved, join groups, and learn about the world.

-Mr. Danka

You are an exceptional class with an exceptional story that you didn’t ask for. This story has only just the begun, where it goes next is entirely up to each and every one of you. Make it special. Make it amazing. Make it your own.

-Mr. Swanson

Resilient. That is the word that I will always associate with your class. You made the adjustment to the new Armstrong Jr. Sr. High School, and you did it very well. And then, when you were about to reap the rewards of your years of hard work and play at AHS, the world shut down. I have witnessed many of you finding new ways to reach out, new ways to celebrate, new ways to learn….you will be forever changed by the end of your senior year. You will be resilient, and compassionate, and flexible, and adaptable. You, dear seniors of 2020, are going to change the world! God bless you on your journeys.

-Ms. Treacy

You are an awesome Senior Class! It has been a pleasure to have you in class, to chat with you in the morning, to talk with you in the halls, and to watch you in various school activities over the last few years! I will miss you all, just like I miss you now!

-Mrs. Lorigan

You are the last class I taught English 9 to, and because of that I will always remember you. The memories and gray hair that you gave to me can never be erased (at least until the salons open back up).

Hope you all have the future you have dreamed of and use the Covid-19 pandemic as a learning experience to make you a stronger adult.

-Mrs. Meleason

“Step with care and great tact, and remember that life’s a great balancing act.” -Dr Seuss

Best wishes for success AHS Class of 2020.

-Ms. Johns

I know this hasn’t be an easy part of your life journey, but I have seen so many amazing things come from this senior class in quarantine–and I feel this experience will help shape so many of the decisions you make and actions you take in life. Stay strong! You are loved–and we all want to see you have the chance to still experience some of those senior milestones! I’m not giving up hope!

-Mrs. Burkett

Congratulations seniors! Remember that work is important, but it is not your whole life from here on out. Find something you’re good at to do for a living, then enjoy everything else life has to offer.

-Mr. Meyer

You came in as pre-schoolers taking baby steps, you’re leaving high school take giant leaps of faith…..GOOD LUCK AHS 2020!!

-Ms. Orlosky

Congratulations on being the most unique senior class! I hope the experiences you have had, both good and bad, will help you go out and change the world!

-Ms. Aikens

Best wishes to all of the seniors!

Go out into the real world and spread your wings. Be adaptable, adventurous, considerate, determined, flexible, helpful, loyal, optimistic, thankful, and victorious.

Always do your best, enjoy life, work hard, and focus on your goals.

Good luck and congratulations to all!!!

-Ms. Golab

This year is an extremely bittersweet year! It is hard to believe that just 5 short years ago some of you were in my 8th grade health class and now you are graduating. I have enjoyed having each of you in class (8th grade Health, 11th grade Health and this year, Human Anatomy and Physiology). I wish nothing but the best for each and every one of you with your future endeavors. May you always remember to throw kindness like confetti because kindness always matters.

-Mrs. Heather Hileman

Best of luck with all your future endeavors!

-Mr. Landstrom

Congratulations to all of you! I’m sorry this was not how you envisioned ending your Senior year but always search for the positives in all you do and that will change your outlook and outcome in life! I wish you all the best!

-Mrs. Landstrom

Whatever you decide to do, do it with pride, maximum effort and never give up! If Zoom is needed, gloves on both hands or masks to cover one’s face, I know you’ll accomplish your goals and show the world that Armstrong toughness along the way.

-Mr. Choncek

Your senior year is a special one,

a year to be filled with lots of fun.

March 13th came along and we walked out that door,

not thinking how much life was going to be different than before.

It hasn’t been easy or what it was supposed to be,

but your strength and patience have truly amazed me.

You’ve completed google forms, and submitted assignments, at all hours of the day,

while adjusting to this new school life and managing a new way.

Whether it was zoom or a google meet,

you sometimes just showed up to feel a bit more complete.

You see, it wasn’t always easy for us teachers, too,

we missed our students, their smiles, and everything we once knew.

Two months later, social distancing, and six feet apart,

perhaps we’ve gained some perspective we didn’t have at the start.

Don’t take for granted a second, a minute, or a day,

because, anything can change, we certainly can say.

Class of 2020, you’ve shown us your strength and ability to adjust.

Now, go show the world everything that you must!

Love to you all.

-Mrs. Valasek

Always make people tell you “no;” you’ll be surprised when some of those people tel you “yes!”

-Mr. Zablocki

You are wonderful. It doesn’t matter that you have gotten “a bit lazy” during quarantine, I know that you have the internal fortitude to pick it up again when action is needed. Mostly…you have made me happy and I will miss interacting with you. It is sad that we have not been able to finish the year together. You have made me laugh. You have frustrated me. And, I have worried about you. In spite of all of that, you have made me happy and I will always remember you for that. I love you, Class of 2020. You will be missed!

-Dr. Snyder

Congrats to all of you ~ and a special hug to Owen, Isabel, and Isaac. <3 Aunt Jenny

-Mrs. Sperl

“It is what it is.” We have been through so much together since the infamous Friday the 13th. This fall, you made my transition into teaching seniors seamless, which made this separation all the more devastating. It is easy to say that you will be my most memorable graduating class. I will talk about you and reference our experience for the remainder of my teaching career until my students hate all of you for it. “Remember the Class of 2020 before you complain, they did not even have the experience of a 200 question final exam!” This will be hyperbole at its best. Now go out and change the world that has forever changed us!

-Mrs. Kidder

I can’t wait to see all of the places you will go. I will miss you all. Good luck and work hard.

-Mrs. McFarland

Congrats to the class of 2020!! Wishing you the best as you pursue your future plans! Best wishes!!!

To my musical seniors – I will miss you greatly. Don’t forget the music we made together! I will forever remember you!

-Mrs. Hilles
